5 labs you should have done before starting our weight loss program

Here's the labs we commonly order before starting our weight loss program- Healthy Weight, Healthy You:

1) Leptin - the main hormone that regulates weight loss. It’s the same hormone that most people don’t know about. We test and follow this hormone before starting and during our Healthy Weight, Healthy You program, an exclusive weight loss program designed by Dr. Scott after extensive research and proven methods to return this hormone to normal.


2) Insulin, hemoglobin a1c, glucose - these are a dive into how the body is dealing with sugar from one’s diet. Not everyone has elevated levels. Insulin resistance can still be present at the cellular level even though these labs are normal. If you have insulin resistance (prediabetic) or diabetes, it is vital that this get treated to get leptin levels down and prevent other diseases. The other marker that is a sign of sugar issues by the body is elevated triglycerides.


3) CRP - a marker of inflammation. it is well known that obesity is an inflammatory condition. Thy thyroid gland makes thyroid hormone that helps regulate the body’s metabolic rate and energy level.

5) Vitamin D - this is an important vitamin that often gets overlooked. Many Americans are vitamin D deficient. Having a vitamin D level tested is important since vitamin D plays many roles in the body including muscle strength, bone health, mood support, immune support, weight loss, improved energy levels. An ideal vitamin D level ranges from 50 to 70 ng/ml.
